I was riding in the passenger seat of a car going through downtown Seattle.  We stopped at a crosswalk and there was a truck driving behind us who did not see us stop.  The truck driver ran right into the back of our car.  Due to the impact of being rear-ended by the truck, I suffered neck injuries in the accident. It took a long time for me to recover from the neck injuries.  To this day, I still have some pain in my neck, but it is not as bad as it was before. I was driving home late one evening after a long day of work.  I was heading southbound on I5 and was stopped in traffic. All of the sudden out of nowhere I was rear-ended by a pick-up truck.  Later the next day, I had stiffness and soreness to the point I could barely move, so I went to the doctor.  I had pain in my middle and upper back and also in my neck.  It felt like my muscles were so tight I couldn’t move and I had a lot of trouble sleeping.  I am the caregiver for my wife and I couldn’t take care of her or do the things I normally would to take care of her.  I also had to take some time off of work to recover.  It was an ongoing process of going to physical therapy to help me heal. My family and I were on our way home from a summer trip to Portland, Oregon.  I was driving north on Interstate 205 near Vancouver, WA when I saw a motorcyclist in front of me that was really wobbly.  I was in the middle lane with traffic all around, so I hit my breaks to avoid hitting the motorcyclist.  The car that was behind me wasn’t paying attention and smashed into me at full speed. After the accident, I had bad pain in my neck and back.  I sought help for the pain by going in to see my family doctor, a chiropractor and went to physical therapy.  My back hurt for a long time after the accident.   The recovery process was painful.  I am a pretty active person, so there were lots of things I couldn’t do for many months after the accident.  I had worked for an insurance company for several years, so I had a lot of experience with understanding the process of working with an insurance company, but I had never experienced working with an insurance company from being on the “injured” side.  When I dealt with the insurance company on my own it did not go well.  I did not feel that I was being treated fairly by the insurance company.  It was also very time consuming to deal with them, and I didn’t really have time for it.
